I knew almost nothing about the Camino de Santiago when I joined a friend for a few days of his pilgrimage. I wasn’t expecting to fall in love with the entire experience. By the time I got home, I was already making plans to walk the full 800 kilometres in my retirement.

And then I had a thought. Why wait?

Over five weeks, I would walk an astonishing distance. I'd make new friends, see incredible sights and hear snoring at volumes never before recorded. The Camino gave me unforgettable memories, new connections and a new outlook on life.

Whether you're a prospective pilgrim, or someone that prefers to do your walking vicariously, my personal, playful account will tell you what to expect when walking the Way of St James.
